A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Jelsoft VBulletin 3.5.1/3.5.2/3.5.4 (Forum Software). This issue affects some unknown processing of the file impexmodule.php. The manipulation of the argument systempath with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Impacted is integrity. PHP remote file inclusion vulnerability in VBulletin 3.5.1, 3.5.2, and 3.5.4 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a URL in the systempath parameter to (1) ImpExModule.php, (2) ImpExController.php, and (3) ImpExDisplay.php.
The weakness was presented 04/12/2006 by Dr.Jr7 as confirmed posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2006-1816 since 04/17/2006. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely.
