A vulnerability was found in Oracle Database 10.2.1/10.2.2/10.2.3 (Database Software). It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is the function RLMGR_TRUNCATE_MAINT. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a race condition vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-362. Oracle Database 10g uses a NULL pDacl parameter when calling the SetSecurityDescriptorDacl function to create discretionary access control lists (DACLs), which allows local users to gain privileges.
The weakness was disclosed 04/18/2007 by Cesar Cerrudo with Oracle (Website). The advisory is shared for download at oracle.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2007-1442 since 03/13/2007. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known.
A public exploit has been developed in ANSI C. The exploit is available at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. As 0-day the estimated underground price was around $25k-$100k.
