A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in PHP (Programming Language Software). Affected by this issue is the function tempnam. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Buffer consumption vulnerability in the tempnam function in PHP 5.1.4 and 4.x before 4.4.3 allows local users to bypass restrictions and create PHP files with fixed names in other directories via a pathname argument longer than MAXPATHLEN, which prevents a unique string from being appended to the filename.
