A vulnerability has been found in Microsoft Windows 2000 (Operating System) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the file mqsvc.exe of the component Message Queuing Service. The manipulation as part of a MQLocateBegin Packet leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

The issue has been introduced in 02/17/2000. The weakness was presented 10/13/2003 by Dave Korn (Website). The advisory is shared for download at secunia.com. The attack can be initiated remotely. Technical details and also a public exploit are known.
