A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in PHP 5.2.x (Programming Language Software). Affected is an unknown code block of the component Session Extension. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. The Zend Engine in PHP 4.x before 4.4.7, and 5.x before 5.2.2, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (stack exhaustion and PHP crash) via deeply nested arrays, which trigger deep recursion in the variable destruction routines.

The bug was discovered 03/01/2007. The weakness was presented 08/31/2007 by C.I. Morris (Website). The advisory is shared for download at php.net.
