A vulnerability was found in PHP 4.4.4/4.4.5/4.4.6/6.0 (Programming Language Software) and classified as problematic. This issue affects the function phpinfo. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. A regression error in the phpinfo function in PHP 4.4.3 to 4.4.6, and PHP 6.0 in CVS, allows remote attackers to conduct cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks via GET, POST, or COOKIE array values, which are not escaped in the phpinfo output, as originally fixed for CVE-2005-3388.
The bug was discovered 03/03/2007. The weakness was disclosed 03/03/2007 by Stefan Esser (DiGiT) with Secunia Research (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at php-security.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2007-1287 since 03/06/2007. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1059.007 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
