The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. A regression error in the phpinfo function in PHP 4.4.3 to 4.4.6, and PHP 6.0 in CVS, allows remote attackers to conduct cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks via GET, POST, or COOKIE array values, which are not escaped in the phpinfo output, as originally fixed for CVE-2005-3388.

The bug was discovered 03/03/2007. The weakness was disclosed 03/03/2007 by Stefan Esser (DiGiT) with Secunia Research (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at php-security.org.
