A vulnerability has been found in PHP 4.4.4 (Programming Language Software) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects the function unserialize. The manipulation of the argument underlying with an unknown input leads to a integer coercion vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-192. Integer coercion refers to a set of flaws pertaining to the type casting, extension, or truncation of primitive data types. Integer overflow in PHP 4.4.4 and earlier allows remote context-dependent attackers to execute arbitrary code via a long string to the unserialize function, which triggers the overflow in the ZVAL reference counter.
The bug was discovered 03/02/2007. The weakness was released 03/02/2007 by Stefan Esser (Website). The advisory is available at php-security.org.
