GNUMail 1.1.2 and earlier does not properly use the --status-fd argument when invoking GnuPG, which prevents GNUMail from visually distinguishing between signed and unsigned portions of OpenPGP messages with multiple components, which allows remote attackers to forge the contents of a message without detection.

The weakness was published 03/06/2007 by Core Security with CORE Security Technologies as confirmed posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2007-1269 since 03/04/2007. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely.
