Sylpheed 2.2.7 and earlier does not properly use the --status-fd argument when invoking GnuPG, which prevents Sylpheed from visually distinguishing between signed and unsigned portions of OpenPGP messages with multiple components, which allows remote attackers to forge the contents of a message without detection.

The weakness was presented 03/06/2007 by Core Security with CORE Security Technologies as confirmed posting (Bugtraq). It is possible to read the advisory at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2007-1267 since 03/04/2007. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication.
