This vulnerability affects the function createandjoinconference in the library yacscom.dll of the component ActiveX Control. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a stack-based overflow vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-121. Stack-based buffer overflow in the createAndJoinConference function in the AudioConf ActiveX control (yacscom.dll) in Yahoo! Messenger before 20070313 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via long (1) socksHostname and (2) hostname properties.
The bug was discovered 04/03/2007. The weakness was disclosed 04/03/2007 by Peter Vreugdenhil (iDefense) with iDEFENSE Labs as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is available at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2007-1680 since 03/26/2007. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
