A vulnerability was found in SolidWorks sldimdownload ActiveX control up to 16.0.0.5 and classified as critical. This issue affects the function run in the library sldimdownload.dll of the component ActiveX Control. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. The Run function in SolidWorks sldimdownload ActiveX control in sldimdownload.dll before 16.0.0.6 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via the (1) installerpath and (2) applicationarguments arguments.
The bug was discovered 04/03/2007. The weakness was presented 04/03/2007 by Will Dormann with CERT/CC as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). It is possible to read the advisory at kb.cert.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2007-1684 since 03/26/2007. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
