The WLST script generated by the configToScript command in BEA WebLogic Express and WebLogic Server 9.0 and 9.1 does not encrypt certain attributes in configuration files when creating a new domain, which allows remote authenticated users to obtain sensitive information.
The bug was discovered 05/15/2007. The weakness was released 05/14/2007 (Website). The advisory is shared at dev2dev.bea.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2007-2700 since 05/15/2007. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. The successful exploitation needs a simple authentication. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1592 for this issue.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 86766 (BEA WebLogic Multiple Vulnerabilities (2007)).
