Cross-domain vulnerability in Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 SP4, 6, and 7 allows remote attackers to access restricted information from other domains via JavaScript that uses the Object data type for the value of a (1) location or (2) location.href property, related to incorrect determination of the origin of web script, aka "Window Location Property Cross-Domain Vulnerability." NOTE: according to Microsoft, CVE-2008-2948 and CVE-2008-2949 are duplicates of this issue, probably different attack vectors.
The issue has been introduced in 03/22/2001. The weakness was shared 06/26/2008 with Ph4nt0m Security Team (Website). The advisory is shared for download at ph4nt0m.org-a.googlepages.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2008-2947 since 06/30/2008. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1068.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 2653 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $25k-$100k.
