A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Adobe Flash Player up to 8.0.34.0 (Multimedia Player Software). Affected is an unknown part of the component Flash Player. Adobe Flash Player 8.0.34.0 and earlier insufficiently validates HTTP Referer headers, which might allow remote attackers to conduct a CSRF attack via a crafted SWF file.
The bug was discovered 07/10/2007. The weakness was published 07/10/2007 by Daiki Fukumori (Website). The advisory is shared for download at us-cert.gov. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2007-3457 since 06/26/2007. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
The exploit is shared for download at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. As 0-day the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 25694 (Flash Player Multiple Vulnerabilities (APSB07-12)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows and running in the context l. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 165068 (SUSE Security Update for flash-player (SUSE-SA:2007:046)).
Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published before and not just after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
