A vulnerability was found in AlstraSoft SMS Text Messaging Enterprise (version now known). It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the file admin/membersearch.php. The manipulation of the argument userid with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. As an impact it is known to affect integrity. CVE summarizes:
Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in AlstraSoft SMS Text Messaging Enterprise allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the (1) domain or (2) q parameter to (a) admin/membersearch.php, or (3) the userid parameter to (b) admin/edituser.php.
The weakness was released 07/22/2007 by Lostmon (Website). The advisory is available at lostmon.blogspot.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2007-4079 since 07/30/2007. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. This vulnerability is assigned to T1059.007 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
After immediately, there has been an exploit disclosed. It is possible to download the exploit at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:admin/membersearch.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
