A vulnerability has been found in WordPress 2.0.3 (Content Management System) and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown processing of the file wp-db-backup.php. The manipulation of the argument backup with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in wp-db-backup.php in WordPress 2.0.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files, delete arbitrary files, and cause a denial of service via a .. (dot dot) in the backup parameter in a wp-db-backup.php action to wp-admin/edit.php. NOTE: this might be the same as CVE-2006-5705.1.
