A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in OpenLDAP 2.3.39 (Directory Service Software). This issue affects some unknown processing. slapd/back-bdb/modrdn.c in the BDB backend for slapd in OpenLDAP 2.3.39 allows remote authenticated users to cause a denial of service (daemon crash) via a modrdn operation with a NOOP (LDAP_X_NO_OPERATION) control, a related issue to CVE-2007-6698.
The bug was discovered 02/07/2008. The weakness was presented 02/13/2008 by Ralf Haferkamp with SuSE.de (Website). The advisory is shared at vupen.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2008-0658 since 02/07/2008. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. Required for exploitation is a simple authentication. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
