Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 and 7 on Windows XP and Vista does not prevent script from simulating user interaction with the AutoComplete feature, which allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive form information via a crafted web site, aka "AutoComplete Information Disclosure Vulnerability."
The weakness was disclosed 09/06/2010 by Chris Evans with Google Chrome Security Team (Full-Disclosure). The advisory is shared for download at archives.neohapsis.com. The public release happened without coordination with the vendor. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2010-0808. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1592.
The exploit is available at scary.beasts.org. It is declared as proof-of-concept. As 0-day the estimated underground price was around $25k-$100k. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 49948 (MS10-071: Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer (2360131)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows : Microsoft Bulletins. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 100091 (Microsoft Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer (MS10-071)).
