A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in VideoLAN VLC up to 0.8.6 (Multimedia Player Software). This affects some unknown processing of the component Real Demuxer. Multiple integer overflows in VLC before 0.8.6f allow remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) via the (1) MP4 demuxer, (2) Real demuxer, and (3) Cinepak codec, which triggers a buffer overflow.
The weakness was released 04/25/2008 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at vupen.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2008-1768 since 04/12/2008.
