A vulnerability classified as critical was found in VideoLAN VLC up to 0.8.6 (Multimedia Player Software). This vulnerability affects an unknown function of the component Array Access. VLC before 0.8.6f allow remote attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) via a crafted Cinepak file that triggers an out-of-bounds array access and memory corruption.
The bug was discovered 04/23/2008. The weakness was disclosed 04/25/2008 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at vupen.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2008-1769 since 04/12/2008.
