Oracle Enterprise Manager 10.x Grid Control JSP File privileges management

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Oracle Enterprise Manager 10.x (Software Management Software). It has been classified as critical. This affects an unknown part of the component Grid Control. The manipulation as part of a JSP File leads to a privileges management vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-269. The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, and integrity. The summary by CVE is:

Unspecified vulnerability in the Client System Analyzer component in Oracle Database Server 11.1.0.7 and 11.2.0.1 and Enterprise Manager Grid Control 10.2.0.5 allows remote attackers to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability via unknown vectors. NOTE: the previous information was obtained from the January 2011 CPU. Oracle has not commented on claims from a reliable third party coordinator that this issue involves an exposed JSP script that accepts XML uploads in conjunction with NULL bytes in an unspecified parameter that allow execution of arbitrary code.

The weakness was published 01/19/2011 by Maksymilian Arciemowicz (BSDaemon) with ZDI (Website). The advisory is shared at zerodayinitiative.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2010-3600 since 09/20/2010. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.

A public exploit has been developed in Ruby. The exploit is shared for download at securityfocus.com. It is declared as highly functional. We expect the 0-day to have been worth approximately $25k-$100k. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 51573 (Oracle Database Multiple Vulnerabilities (January 2011 CPU)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Databases and running in the context l. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 19608 (Oracle Database January 2011 Security Update Multiple Vulnerabilities (CPUJAN2011)).

Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at oracle.com. A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at X-Force (64755), Tenable (51573), SecurityFocus (BID 45883†), Secunia (SA42921†) and SecurityTracker (ID 1024972†). Similar entries are available at VDB-4241, VDB-4244, VDB-4246 and VDB-4247. If you want to get the best quality for vulnerability data then you always have to consider VulDB.
