The (1) JScript 5.8 and (2) VBScript 5.8 scripting engines in Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 do not properly load decoded scripts obtained from web pages, which allows remote attackers to trigger memory corruption and consequently obtain sensitive information via a crafted web site, aka "Scripting Engines Information Disclosure Vulnerability."
The weakness was presented 02/08/2011 by Yamata Li with Palo Alto Networks. as MS11-009 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). The advisory is available at microsoft.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2011-0031 since 12/10/2010. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1592 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

It is assigned to the family Windows : Microsoft Bulletins and running in the context l. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 90681 (Microsoft JScript and VBScript Scripting Engines Information Disclosure Vulnerability (MS11-009)).
Applying the patch MS11-009 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at microsoft.com. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 10801.
