A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Adobe Flash Player up to 9.0.115.0 (Multimedia Player Software). ActionScript in Adobe Flash Player 9.0.124.0 and earlier does not require user interaction in conjunction with (1) the FileReference.browse operation in the FileReference upload API or (2) the FileReference.download operation in the FileReference download API, which allows remote attackers to create a browse dialog box, and possibly have unspecified other impact, via an SWF file.
The weakness was released 10/17/2008 (Website). The advisory is shared at xforce.iss.net. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2008-4401 since 10/02/2008. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.
