A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in Wireshark up to 1.0.2 (Packet Analyzer Software). Affected is some unknown processing of the component Bluetooth. Unspecified vulnerability in the Bluetooth RFCOMM dissector in Wireshark 0.99.7 through 1.0.3 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash or abort) via unknown packets.
The bug was discovered 10/20/2008. The weakness was disclosed 10/22/2008 by David Maciejak (Mike) with Wireshark (Website). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2008-4681 since 10/22/2008. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
