The weakness was disclosed 01/10/2012 by Tavis Ormandy with Google Security Team (Website). The advisory is shared at adobe.com. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with Adobe. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2011-4370 since 11/04/2011. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 59667 (GLSA-201206-14 : Adobe Reader: Multiple vulnerabilities), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
