Stack-based buffer overflow in the JPEG2000 plugin in IrfanView PlugIns before 4.33 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a JPEG2000 (JP2) file with a crafted Quantization Default (QCD) marker segment.
The weakness was published 01/16/2012 by Parvez Anwar (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at securityfocus.com. The public release has been coordinated with Irfan Skiljan. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2012-0897 since 01/20/2012. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication.
