A vulnerability was found in Microsoft IIS up to 6.0 (Web Server). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects an unknown code block. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-269. The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
The weakness was disclosed 12/28/2003 by Jason A Rafail and Art Manion with CERT (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at kb.cert.org. The attack may be initiated remotely. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1068 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
