The Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) implementation in Mozilla Firefox 4.x through 10.0, Firefox ESR 10.x before 10.0.3, Thunderbird 5.0 through 10.0, Thunderbird ESR 10.x before 10.0.3, and SeaMonkey before 2.8 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code via dynamic modification of a keyframe followed by access to the cssText of the keyframe.

The weakness was published 03/13/2012 by Daniel Glazman (Nils) as MFSA2012-17 as confirmed advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at mozilla.org. The public release has been coordinated with Mozilla. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2012-0459 since 01/09/2012. The exploitability is told to be difficult. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1068 according to MITRE ATT&CK.

It is declared as proof-of-concept.
