Google Chrome before 17.0.963.83 allows remote attackers to bypass the Same Origin Policy via vectors involving a "magic iframe."
The weakness was published 03/21/2012 by Sergey Glazunov (PinkiePie) with VUPEN (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at googlechromereleases.blogspot.com. The public release has been coordinated with Google. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2011-3056 since 08/09/2011. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available. Upgrading to version 17.0.963.83 eliminates this vulnerability. The upgrade is hosted for download at chrome.google.com. Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at trac.webkit.org. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
