A vulnerability was found in MediaWiki up to 1.18.1 (Content Management System). It has been classified as critical. This affects an unknown code of the component Special:Upload. Cross-site request forgery (CSRF) vulnerability in Special:Upload in MediaWiki 1.17.x before 1.17.3 and 1.18.x before 1.18.2 allows remote attackers to hijack the authentication of unspecified victims for requests that upload files.
The weakness was released 03/22/2012 by Jan Schejbal (Bawolff) with Hatforce.com (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at lists.wikimedia.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2012-1580 since 03/12/2012. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely.
