dom/base/nsJSEnvironment.cpp in Mozilla Firefox 3.5.x before 3.5.11 and 3.6.x before 3.6.7, Thunderbird 3.0.x before 3.0.6 and 3.1.x before 3.1.1, and SeaMonkey before 2.0.6 does not properly suppress a script s URL in certain circumstances involving a redirect and an error message, which allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information about script parameters via a crafted HTML document, related to the window.onerror handler.
The weakness was published 07/30/2010 by Vladimir Vukicevic (moz_bug_r_a4) as Bug 568564 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared at bugzilla.mozilla.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2010-2754. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1592 for this issue.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 48266 (CentOS 4 : thunderbird (CESA-2010:0544)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family CentOS Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 118862 (Red Hat Update for Xulrunner Firefox (RHSA-2010:0547)).
Upgrading to version 1.0.9 eliminates this vulnerability.
