The OGG container in Google Chrome before 19.0.1084.46 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service or possibly have unspecified other impact via unknown vectors that trigger an out-of-bounds write.
The weakness was published 05/15/2012 by Hannu Heikkinen (psaldorn) with Chromium Development Community as 123481 as confirmed knowledge base article (Website). The advisory is available at code.google.com. The public release has been coordinated with the vendor. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2011-3095 since 08/09/2011. Upgrading to version 19.0.1084.46 eliminates this vulnerability. The upgrade is hosted for download at chrome.google.com. Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at lists.ffmpeg.org. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
