SSL_Cipher.cpp in EncFS before 1.7.0 uses an improper combination of an AES cipher and a CBC cipher mode for encrypted filesystems, which allows local users to obtain sensitive information via a watermark attack.
The weakness was published 09/17/2010 as Bug 630460 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). It is possible to read the advisory at bugzilla.redhat.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2010-3074. The exploitation is known to be easy. Attacking locally is a requirement. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
