Array index error in RealNetworks RealPlayer 11.0 through 11.1 and RealPlayer SP 1.0 through 1.0.1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via malformed sample data in a RealMedia .IVR file, related to a "malformed IVR pointer index" issue.
The weakness was disclosed 10/18/2010 by Sebastian Apelt (TippingPoint) with TippingPoint's Zero Day Initiative (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at zerodayinitiative.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2010-2998 since 08/13/2010. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation.
