Opera before 11.65 does not properly restrict the reading of JSON strings, which allows remote attackers to perform cross-domain loading of JSON resources and consequently obtain sensitive information via a crafted web site.
The weakness was released 06/14/2012 by Jordi Chancel with Code Audit Labs as Opera 11.65 for Mac as not defined changelog entry (Website). The advisory is shared at opera.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2012-3557 since 06/14/2012. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.
