Details
A vulnerability was found in Mozilla Firefox (Web Browser). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
Mozilla Firefox before 3.5.16 and 3.6.x before 3.6.13, and SeaMonkey before 2.0.11, when the XMLHttpRequestSpy module in the Firebug add-on is used, does not properly handle interaction between the XMLHttpRequestSpy object and chrome privileged objects, which allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary JavaScript via a crafted HTTP response. NOTE: this vulnerability exists because of an incomplete fix for CVE-2010-0179.
The weakness was presented 12/10/2010 as Bug 554449 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.mozilla.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2010-3773.
