A vulnerability was found in Red Hat JBoss Remoting up to 2.2.2 (Application Server Software) and classified as problematic. This issue affects an unknown function of the file 4.3.0.CP09. The org.jboss.remoting.transport.bisocket.BisocketServerInvoker$SecondaryServerSocketThread.run method in JBoss Remoting 2.2.x before 2.2.3.SP4 and 2.5.x before 2.5.3.SP2 in Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (aka JBoss EAP or JBEAP) 4.3 through 4.3.0.CP09, and 5.1.0; and JBoss Enterprise Web Platform (aka JBEWP) 5.1.0; allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (daemon outage) by establishing a bisocket control connection TCP session, and then not sending any application data.
The weakness was published 12/30/2010 as Bug 641389 as confirmed bug report (Bugzilla). It is possible to read the advisory at bugzilla.redhat.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2010-3862 since 10/08/2010. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit.
