Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 and earlier, and Internet Explorer 9 beta, does not properly restrict cross-zone drag-and-drop actions, which allows user-assisted remote attackers to read cookie files via vectors involving an IFRAME element with a SRC attribute containing a file: URL, as demonstrated by a Facebook game, related to a "cookiejacking" issue.

The issue has been introduced in 06/02/1998. The weakness was published 06/03/2011 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at sites.google.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2011-2382. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.

The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 4749 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $25k-$100k.
