A vulnerability was found in Apple QuickTime (Multimedia Player Software). It has been classified as very critical. Affected is an unknown code block. Buffer overflow in Apple QuickTime before 7.7 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (application crash) via a crafted pict file.
The weakness was disclosed 08/03/2011 by TippingPoint with TippingPoint's Zero Day Initiative (Website). The advisory is available at lists.apple.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2011-0245 since 12/23/2010. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 11/17/2021).

Upgrading to version 7.5.5 eliminates this vulnerability.
