Open Directory in Apple Mac OS X 10.7 before 10.7.2 does not require a user to provide the current password before changing this password, which allows remote attackers to bypass intended password-change restrictions by leveraging an unattended workstation.
The weakness was presented 10/14/2011 by Erling Ellingsen with Facebook (Website). The advisory is available at lists.apple.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2011-3436 since 09/13/2011. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. The requirement for exploitation is a simple authentication.
