CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

Detailsinfo

A vulnerability was found in Adobe Flash Player 11.1.111.0/11.1.115.11/11.3.300.271 (Multimedia Player Software). It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown functionality. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

Adobe Flash Player before 10.3.183.23 and 11.x before 11.4.402.265 on Windows and Mac OS X, before 10.3.183.23 and 11.x before 11.2.202.238 on Linux, before 11.1.111.16 on Android 2.x and 3.x, and before 11.1.115.17 on Android 4.x; Adobe AIR before 3.4.0.2540; and Adobe AIR SDK before 3.4.0.2540 allow attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (memory corruption) via unspecified vectors, a different vulnerability than CVE-2012-4164 and CVE-2012-4165.

The weakness was released 08/21/2012 by Xu Liu (iDefense) with Fortinet's FortiGuard Labs as APSB12-19 as not defined bulletin (Website). The advisory is shared at adobe.com. The public release was coordinated with Adobe. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2012-4163 since 08/07/2012. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 61625 (Adobe AIR for Mac 3.x <= 3.3.0.3670 Multiple Vulnerabilities (APSB12-19)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family MacOS X Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 120441 (Red Hat Update for flash-plugin (RHSA-2012:1203)).

Upgrading to version 11.4.402.265(Windows, Mac) or 11.2.202.238(Linux) eliminates this vulnerability. The upgrade is hosted for download at get.adobe.com. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Tenable (61625), SecurityFocus (BID 55136†), OSVDB (84789†), Secunia (SA50354†) and Vulnerability Center (SBV-35952†). Entries connected to this vulnerability are available at VDB-5947, VDB-6002, VDB-6004 and VDB-6003. Several companies clearly confirm that VulDB is the primary source for best vulnerability data.
