Integer overflow in the CSoundFile::ReadWav function in src/load_wav.cpp in libmodplug before 0.8.8.4 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service and possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted WAV file, which triggers a heap-based buffer overflow.

The weakness was presented 06/07/2012 by Hossein Lotfi (Website). The advisory is shared for download at xforce.iss.net. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2011-2911. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 68345 (Oracle Linux 4 : gstreamer-plugins (ELSA-2011-1264)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
