Apple iChat Server does not verify that a request was made for an XMPP Server Dialback response, which allows remote XMPP servers to spoof domains via responses for domains that were not asserted.
The weakness was presented 08/21/2012 by Philipp Hancke as not defined bulletin (Website). The advisory is shared at xmpp.org. The public release happened without involvement of Apple. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2012-4672 since 08/25/2012. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation.
