Details
A vulnerability was found in Apache HTTP Server 2.4.0/2.4.1/2.4.2 (Web Server). It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is some unknown functionality of the file mod_proxy_ajp.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a information disclosure vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-200. The product exposes sensitive information to an actor that is not explicitly authorized to have access to that information. Impacted is confidentiality. CVE summarizes:
The proxy functionality in (1) mod_proxy_ajp.c in the mod_proxy_ajp module and (2) mod_proxy_http.c in the mod_proxy_http module in the Apache HTTP Server 2.4.x before 2.4.3 does not properly determine the situations that require closing a back-end connection, which allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information in opportunistic circumstances by reading a response that was intended for a different client.
The weakness was disclosed 08/16/2012 by Rainer Jung as confirmed posting (Apache SVN). The advisory is shared for download at svn.apache.org. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2012-3502 since 06/14/2012. The attack may be launched remotely.
