A vulnerability was found in Microsoft Windows up to XP/Server 2003 (Operating System). It has been declared as very critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown functionality of the component ASN.1 Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Double free vulnerability in the ASN.1 library as used in Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service and possibly execute arbitrary code.
The bug was discovered 04/13/2004. The weakness was published 04/13/2004 with Foundstone Labs und Qualys as MS04-011 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). The advisory is available at microsoft.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2004-0123 since 02/03/2004. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 01/02/2025).
