A vulnerability was found in FFmpeg 0.8.10 (Multimedia Processing Software). It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is the function dpcm_decode_frame. The dpcm_decode_frame function in libavcodec/dpcm.c in FFmpeg before 0.9.1 does not use the proper pointer after an audio API change, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) via unspecified vectors, which triggers a heap-based buffer overflow.
The issue has been introduced in 01/12/2012. The weakness was released 08/20/2012 as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository). It is possible to read the advisory at git.videolan.org.
