Heap-based buffer overflow in the get_sot function in the J2K decoder (j2k.c) in libavcodec in FFmpeg before 0.9.1 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) via unspecified vectors related to the curtileno variable.

The issue has been introduced in 01/12/2012. The weakness was presented 08/27/2012 as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository). The advisory is shared for download at git.videolan.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2012-0855 since 01/19/2012. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely.
