A vulnerability has been found in rack and classified as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown part in the library lib/rack/multipart.rb. lib/rack/multipart.rb in Rack before 1.1.4, 1.2.x before 1.2.6, 1.3.x before 1.3.7, and 1.4.x before 1.4.2 uses an incorrect regular expression, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (infinite loop) via a crafted Content-Disposion header.
The weakness was released 03/01/2013 by Ben Murphy (Website). The advisory is shared at groups.google.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2012-6109 since 12/06/2012. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1499 for this issue.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 74053 (GLSA-201405-10 : Rack: Multiple vulnerabilities), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. Upgrading to version 1.1.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
