Use-after-free vulnerability in Google Chrome before 17.0.963.65 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service or possibly have unspecified other impact via vectors related to the handling of table sections.

The weakness was presented 09/19/2012 by miaubiz with Google as APPLE-SA-2012-09-19-1 as not defined posting (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at prod.lists.apple.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2011-3042 since 08/09/2011. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 58210 (FreeBSD : chromium -- multiple vulnerabilities (99aef698-66ed-11e1-8288-00262d5ed8ee)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
