Lock Screen in Apple iOS before 7.1.2 does not properly manage the telephony state in Airplane Mode, which allows physically proximate attackers to bypass the lock protection mechanism, and access a certain foreground application, via unspecified vectors.
The weakness was presented 06/30/2014 by Erling Ellingsen (cunzhang) with NESO Security Labs as HT6297 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at support.apple.com. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability was named CVE-2014-1353 since 01/08/2014. The exploitation appears to be easy. Local access is required to approach this attack. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1068 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
Upgrading to version 7.1.2 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
